Facts On All Natural Organic Skin Care Products

By Lana Bray

All natural organic skin care products available in the market today are not as effective as they are said to be but there are a number of them that have been reported to have good results. In this article we will try and sample the most commonly used products and techniques. These range from simple homemade solutions to manufactured products that contain complex compounds.

Among the most easily available options is the use of anti-oxidant green tea. This tea is considered to have the potential to prevent epidermal damage by free radicals such as the superoxide anion, hydrogen peroxide and the hydroxyl anion. At the same time, the tea is a way of ensuring that you remain hydrated and your skin is kept turgid. If the tea is not available, frequent intake of other fluids will serve the same function.

Another strategy that can be employed is a modification of the diet. Lots of raw foods and less of processed ones are recommended. You should increase on your protein intake especially for the sources of omega 3 fats. The main ones include salmon, mackerel, arctic char, cod and tuna. These fats are very important in protecting the epidermis against oxidative cell damage and in improving hydration.

When it comes to taking a shower or bath, the water used should be lukewarm rather than hot. Hot water causes sloughing of dry skin and should be avoided. Salts such as chlorine are also harmful particularly when used together with hot water. The chlorine results in oxidative reactions that cause corrosion of superficial epidermal layers which predisposes to premature aging.

Several herbs have been found to be useful in skin care. Chamomile is one of them. This herb has a sweet fruity smell and a soothing characteristic that greatly help to relax the user. It has both therapeutic and cosmetic uses. There are very few side effects that result from its use. The main active ingredients include apigenin, luteolin and quercetin.

Calendula is the other herb that has lots of benefits. It has a physical appearance that resembles marigold. It has been used since the days of ancient Egypt. To bring out its nourishing effects, it is frequently mixed with olive oil. It is an effective moisturizer that also helps get rid of excess wrinkles on the face. Just like chamomile, it is a very effective relaxant.

There are many other natural ingredients that are used for cosmetic products. They may either be used singly or in combination. They include, among others, sunflower oil, vitamin E, coconut oil, apple juice and aloe vera. They are also used in aromatherapy. Aromatherapy involves the use of volatile plant oils to improve physical and psychological wellbeing.

All natural organic skin care products have to be thoroughly assessed before they are used. Most of them often contain potentially harmful components especially when applied for long periods of time. The common ones are aluminium carbohydrate, lead acetate, ammonia, mercury, formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate and hydroquinone among others.
